JAKARTA The General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Golkar Party Bahlil Lahadalia has a target in the 2029 General Election. According to him, Golkar's goal is to increase the acquisition of seats in the DPR RI, provincial DPRD, and district/city DPRD.
To achieve this, Bahlil emphasized the importance of internal consolidation to the grassroots level and accelerating regeneration of cadres in order to seize the votes of young voters.
According to him, Golkar should not be complacent with the previous election achievements. He asked all administrators and cadres to prepare concrete steps to increase seat acquisition at all legislative levels.
"The Golkar Party's target is not only to maintain, but to add seats in the DPR RI, provinces, and regencies/cities," said Bahlil at the Golkar Regional Conference (Musda), Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), on Sunday 2 November.
To achieve this target, Bahlil instructed the consolidation of the organization as a whole. According to him, the party structure must be strengthened to the sub-district and village levels, including the revitalization of administrators who are no longer active.
"Consolidation must run to the village. The only management whose names are left must be revitalized. Golkar cannot be big without machines moving below," he said.
In addition to strengthening the structure, Golkar's strategy will rely on accelerating regeneration. Bahlil assessed that the composition of voters in the 2029 Election was dominated by the age group of 17 to 50 years, with a portion reaching 73 percent of the voter population. Therefore, parties are required to be adaptive to the dynamics of young people.
"In the future, it's not the big ones who beat the little ones, but the slow ones who beat the slow ones. Golkar must be creative, innovative, and give greater space to young people," he said.
Bahlil said that Golkar has a tradition of regeneration, exemplifying the presence of a number of young cadres who are currently sitting in the national parliament. He emphasized that this change must continue to be expanded so that Golkar remains relevant in the era of increasingly fast political competition.
