BANDUNG - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Java (Jabar) through the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said it had issued 76 new Mining Business Permits (IUP), but they guaranteed stricter supervision.

Head of the West Java ESDM Agency, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, explained that most of these permits are extension IUPs, not permits for new mining companies, but with tighter supervision and paying attention to environmental and spatial aspects.

"Almost all of them are extension IUPs, but with stricter terms and supervision," said Bambang in Bandung, Thursday, October 30, as reported by ANTARA.

According to Bambang, the supervision of mining activities is carried out by the local district/city government with supervision from the West Java Provincial Government.

"The requirements are now more stringent and supervised by local governments with supervision from the province," he said.

According to the direction of the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, each mining company must comply with the tonnage limit or transport capacity that has been set and is prohibited from operating in forest areas.

"According to the direction of the Governor, it must not exceed the allowed tonnage or weight, because it is feared that it will quickly damage roads, and should not be in forest areas," said Bambang.

Of the total 76 IUPs issued, he continued, there is a stone mining permit in the Sukabumi Regency area.

"It's a stone mine. So far, the need for stones in West Java comes from Bogor. But those in Bogor are being evaluated with the 76 IUPs," he said.

Previously, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi temporarily suspended all mining activities in three sub-districts in Bogor Regency, namely Rumpin, Cigudeg, and Parung Panjang. The decision was stated in Circular (SE) Number 7920/ES.09/PEREK dated September 25, 2025.
