JAYAPURA - The Papua High Prosecutor's Special Crime Investigator (Kejati) has again named four suspects in the alleged corruption case in the construction of Aero Sport in Timika, Mimika Regency, Central Papua.

The four new suspects are state civil servants (ASN) within the Mimika Regency Government who serve as chairman and member of the electoral working group (pokja), namely DM, HW, RJW, and M.

Assistant for Special Crimes at the Papua Attorney General's Office, Nixon Mahuse, explained that the four members of the working group were suspected of having played a role in passing and winning PT Karya Mandiri Permai (KMP) as winners of the tender for the Aero Sport development project with a budget value of IDR 79 billion.

However, said Nixon, the company did not complete the project work until it was completed, causing state financial losses to reach Rp31.3 billion.

"Previously, investigators had named five suspects in the Aero Sport Timika case, and the case is currently being processed at the Corruption Court at the Jayapura District Court," said Nixon accompanied by the Coordinator of Special Investigation Unit for Valery Sawaki in Jayapura, Antara, Thursday, October 30.

The five suspects who were first processed at the Corruption Court were DRHM, who at that time served as Head of the Mimika Regency PUPR Office as well as budget user; SY (Head of the Cipta Karya Division as well as official commitment maker/PPK); PJK (Director of PT Karya Mandiri Permai as service provider); RK (supervisory consultant of PT Mulya Cipta Perkasa); and AJ (non-contract expert).

Nixon said that the roles of the four new suspects were revealed based on information that appeared at the trial. From the results of the investigation, investigators found evidence that strengthened their involvement in the project tender process.

"The investigative team has obtained sufficient evidence so that a determination is made regarding their participation," said Nixon.

The four suspects are now detained and placed in the detention room of the Papua Police Headquarters in Jayapura for further investigation.
