JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Arif Havas Oegroseno accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to Norway Teuku Faizasyah led the Indonesian delegation in a dialogue discussing opportunities for cooperation in the blue economy to low-energy emissions with the Norwegian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Elvind Vad Petersson.

The discussion was held at "The 1st Indonesia's Norway Ocean Dialogue" in Oslo Norway on October 23, 2025.

This forum marks a new chapter in the maritime partnership between the two countries and is a follow-up to the Joint Declaration on the Partnership for a Prosperous and Sustainable Future which was signed in June 2025, citing a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 28.

In the forum, the two countries discussed opportunities for cooperation in the blue economy, marine technology, low energy emissions, and sustainable marine tourism.

Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas Oegroseno also conveyed plans to organize the "Ocean Impact Summit 2026" in Bali while at the same time inviting Norwegian active participation in the event.

Apart from Ocean Dialogue, the Indonesian delegation participated in the 'Roundtable Discussion on Methods of Carbon Pricing: Carbon Mission of Forests and Avoided Emissions' facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo.

This activity brings together research and ministry institutions from both countries, both directly and online, including the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway, NORAD, the Rainforest Foundation Norway, SSB, CICERO and the University of Oslo.

The discussion strengthened the collaboration between Indonesia and Norway in the development of a credible carbon market mechanism with high integrity, as well as supporting global efforts to deal with climate change and sustainable natural resource management.

On the sidelines of the activity, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia also met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Eivind Vad Petersson and Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Astrid Willa Eide Hoem.

The meeting discussed strengthening cooperation in the blue economy, green shipping, carbon markets, climate funding, and global marine diplomacy.

Both parties are committed to deepening results-oriented collaboration, as well as encouraging the role of the private sector and the research community in supporting a sustainable maritime agenda.

The ministry said the implementation of the first Ocean Dialogue reflects the joint commitment of Indonesia and Norway to make the sea a source of common welfare as well as a strategic cooperation space towards a greener, more inclusive and sustainable future.
