Presiden Prabowo Bungkam Ditanya KTT ASEAN Plus Three Bakal Bahas Isu Laut China Selatan

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto assessed that the ASEAN partnership with three partner countries, namely China, Japan, and South Korea, is getting stronger.

This was conveyed by the head of state of the Republic of Indonesia when he was about to attend the 28th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Monday, October 27.

"We have good cooperation. In the span of time since the ASEAN Plus Three was formed until now, our relationship is getting closer," said President Prabowo, quoted by Antara.

However, President Prabowo did not reveal further what issues would be discussed at the summit. The President, when asked if there was a chance to discuss the issue of the South China Sea, also did not answer the question.

On a separate occasion, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in a more concrete and constructive direction.

Therefore, President Prabowo also emphasized ASEAN Plus Three, as a framework for ASEAN's trilateral cooperation with three partner countries in the East Asian region, needs to strengthen integration in the region, diversify trade, and increase the net for financial security as the core of the agenda of the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit.

Indonesia recognizes the contribution of trilateral cooperation between China, Japan and South Korea to the entire region. The goal is to continue to maintain growth, and protect oneself from external shocks. The deepening of this trilateral cooperation through summits (KTT, ed.), and routine ministerial meetings will be very important," said President Prabowo.

In the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit meeting, President Prabowo was accompanied by a number of ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Then, there is also the Head of State Protocol Andy Rachmianto.

President Prabowo visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, since Saturday (25/10), to attend the ASEAN 47th Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLC), Kuala Lumpur, on October 26, 2025.

At the KLC, President Prabowo also attended other ASEAN meetings with partner countries outside the Southeast Asian region, including the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit (China, Japan, and South Korea), East Asia's 20th Summit, the United Nations (UN) ASEAN Summit. Then, there was also the New Zealand ASEAN Commemoration Summit which was held to commemorate 50 years of New Zealand's ASEAN dialogue.
