Just Out Of Prison, Specialist Thief In Tambora Takes Action Again Using Shopee Food Jacket

The Tambora Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to secure two motorcycle theft perpetrators (curanmor) who acted on Jalan Krendang Selatan, Krendang Village, Tambora District, West Jakarta. The modus operandi used by the two perpetrators pretended to be Shopee Food couriers.

The incident was caught on CCTV cameras. The two perpetrators with the initials A and R, used the mode of pretending to be couriers for food delivery by wearing Shopee Food jackets to trick residents into not being suspicious when carrying out their actions.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tambora Police, AKP Sudrajat Djumantara, said that from the results of the investigation, it was known that the two perpetrators were recidivists of similar cases who had just been released from prison a few months ago.

The arrests of the two perpetrators were carried out in two different locations.

"We have secured Perpetrator A in the Anyar River area, Tambora, while perpetrator R was arrested in the Pademangan area, North Jakarta," said AKP Sudrajat when confirmed, October 27, 2025.

They claimed to have acted five times in Tambora and surrounding areas.

"Based on CCTV analysis and information from residents, the team immediately pursued them until we caught them both," he said.

The mode of wearing an online motorcycle taxi jacket is the perpetrator's way of avoiding residents' suspicions.

"The perpetrator took the motorbike by pushing and then connecting the cable so that the vehicle could turn on and then taken away by the perpetrator," he said.

Sudrajat appealed to the public to always be vigilant and use the double security key.

"We urge the public to always be vigilant and equip their vehicles with double locks or additional security to prevent theft," he said.

The two perpetrators were charged with Article 362 of the Criminal Code.
