JAKARTA - The fall of 2 large banyan trees in the courtyard of the North Jakarta City Government office, Jalan Yos Sudarso, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta made a scene for employees at the government office on Friday, October 24, afternoon,

"Initially there was a strong wind that twisted, then these two trees fell," said one employee who witnessed the incident.

He did not know how old the banyan tree was. However, the impact of falling trees, sidewalks above the tree roots was also lifted.

"If (tree conditions) are fragile or not, I don't understand," he said.

The incident of two fallen trees also caused damage to Surya's silver Honda Brio car with the number S 1165 JN, a contractor from Surabaya.

The windshield, left glass and roof of the Honda Brio car were crushed after being hit by a fallen banyan tree trunk.

"The Parks (dinas) wants to be responsible with a maximum of Rp. 25 million. We are told what the process will be, later we plan to go to the Polres (Metro Jakut) to ask for a certificate," said Surya, the owner of the Honda Brio car damaged by a fallen tree.

Meanwhile, officers from the North Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-Department and North Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. were deployed to the scene to cut down fallen tree trunks.

From VOI's observation at the location, officers from the Parks and City Forests Sub-Department dressed in green continued to cut tree trunks using a chainsaw.

The tree trunk was cut into several small parts, then collected to be thrown into the TPS.

In addition to destroying a car belonging to a visitor, two fallen trees also damaged one PJU light cheerful until it broke and collapsed down.

Luckily, there were no casualties and injuries as a result of the incident. Until 16.00 WIB, officers were still cutting down fallen tree trunks.

Previously, it was reported that two banyan trees with a height of about 20 meters in the courtyard of the North Jakarta City Government office suddenly fell after being hit by strong winds on Friday, October 24, 2025.

The incident occurred when heavy rain accompanied by strong winds hit the North Jakarta area.

The two banyan trees are in the car park in front of the Yos Sudarso hall, the North Jakarta City Government.
