Malang Regency Government Traces Causes Of Dozens Of Mts Students Poisoned After Eating MBG

Malang Regency Government (Pemkab) is investigating the cause of poisoning by dozens of students at a madrasah Tsanawiyah (Mts) in the area after consuming Free Nutrition (MBG).

"We are still waiting for the results of the food laboratory (sample) which can be one to three days, so we don't know (the cause of poisoning)," said Malang Regency Regional Secretary (Sekda) Budiar Anwar as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 23.

This poisoning incident caused 16 students and two teachers to be treated at the Kanjurahan Hospital.

The Malang Regency Government fully bears the medical costs of the students.

Budiar stated that while waiting for the results of the examination of the food sample to be published, his party carried out a check to the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) which provided MBG packages for Mts.

The checking process, he said, includes cleaning kitchens and cooking utensils to processing mechanisms and storing raw materials. Moreover, he said the SPPG had obtained a certificate like a sanitation hygiene (SLHS).

"This is the first time this has happened," he said.

Meanwhile, Public Relations of the Kanjuruhan Lukito Condro Hospital explained that his party accepted the victims to undergo treatment at 11.30 WIB.

Both students and teachers who are poisoned experience symptoms of nausea and pain. Seeing these conditions, nurses and doctors at the Kanjuruhan Hospital immediately carried out a series of examinations, provided medicine, and observation.

"We carry out handling in an emergency manner," he said.

He stated that the observation process was to monitor the progress of the victim's health condition in a period of three to six hours.

From the results of observations by health workers for a certain period of time, the victims did not show any further symptoms.

"The current conditions have improved, we have allowed them to be sent home, some have been picked up by their families and the school has also picked them up," he said.
