BOGOR The big family of IPB University is saddened by the death of Anggit Bima Wicaksana, a student of the Sumberdaya Lahan Management Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, who was a victim of a traffic accident while carrying out his duties as a participant in the Patriot Expedition Program in Papua.
This sad news was confirmed directly by the campus. Anggit is known to be carrying out his service duties in the transmigration area when the disaster occurred. He was one of the 285 participants in the 21st Patriot Expedition which was officially released by IPB University on August 22, 2025.
The Chancellor of IPB University, Arif Satria, expressed his deep condolences for the death of Anggit. "We are deeply saddened by the death of Brother Anggit. May his good deeds be accepted by Allah SWT, and the families left behind will be given strength and fortitude," said Arif in his statement, Wednesday, August 22.
According to Arif, Anggit's departure left a big sorrow for the IPB academic community. He assessed that Anggit had shown a high spirit of service by going directly to the field to make the campus proud and contribute to community development in the transmigration area.
"Anggit died in the midst of his struggle to carry out his noble duties. We really miss the figure of a young fighter who is dedicated to the welfare of the people," said Arif.
Director of Cooperation, Communication and Marketing at IPB University, Dr. Alfian Helmi, explained that the campus has coordinated with families and related agencies for the process of repatriating the bodies.
"We have established communication with our families and are working with the Ministry of Transmigration, local governments, the Ministry of Transportation, the Indonesian Air Force, and airlines so that repatriation runs smoothly," he said.
Helmi added, Anggit is known as a student who is highly committed and full of enthusiasm during the program. Anggit has shown extraordinary dedication. We lost his figure, but hopefully his fighting spirit will be an inspiration for other Patriot Expedition participants to continue working in their respective regions," he said.
The Patriot Expedition Program is an initiative of the Ministry of Transmigration in collaboration with various universities, including IPB University. This program involves academics, students, researchers, and practitioners to conduct research and service in transmigration areas. This year, IPB sent 57 lecturers and education personnel, 135 students, and 93 alumni to 21 provinces spread across 34 districts and cities.
Through this activity, participants are expected to become agents of change in transmigration areas and contribute to community-based economic development. Anggit is a real example of that spirit. He died in service to the nation," concluded Helmi.
