JAKARTA - The Betawi Council (MKB) held a special congress which took place at the Pencak Silat Park Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Padepokan, East Jakarta, on Saturday.
Chairman of the Trustee of the MKB, Marullah Matali, said that the congress began with the direction of the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta so that the Betawi community would strengthen their role and cohesiveness in facing the future changes in Jakarta as a global city.
"We were asked to create a stronger Betawi atmosphere, and the conditions were to conduct a congress to address the development of global Jakarta. Today, we carry out the mandate," said Marullah at TMII, East Jakarta, Saturday.

The congress resulted in three important decisions, namely re-determining Fauzi Bowo as Chairman of the MKB Customary Council and Marullah Matali as Chair of the Trustee.

Marullah emphasized that the results of the congress were immediately submitted to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno.
In the congress, he emphasized that the most important thing is to strengthen the strength of the Betawi people in Jakarta so that they can contribute actively.
He also emphasized the importance of internal cohesiveness so that the Betawis can contribute well to the government.
