Delpedro Marhaen Activist Pretrial Trial Begins, Attorney: Determination Of Suspect Is Not Valid

The first trial of the suspect's pretrial was related to demonstration activists which led to chaos in August 2025 Delpedro Marhaen and his friends ANTARA/Luhfia Miranda Putri.

JAKARTA - The South Jakarta District Court (PN) held its first pretrial hearing of a suspected demonstration case that led to chaos in August 2025, Delpedro Marhaen, along with a number of other activists.

Delpedro's attorney, Al Ayyubi Harahap, said his client was arrested by the Polda Metro Jaya on September 1, 2025, at around 22.00 WIB, at the Lokataru Foundation office, one day after the demonstration ended.

"Only one day later, then on September 1, 2025 at around 22.00 WIB, the Delpedro Marhaen Petitioner was arrested by the Respondent from the Polda Metro Jaya at the Lokataru Foundation office," said AyyUBi while reading the petition petitum at the South Jakarta District Court, Antara, Friday, October 17.

He said Delpedro's detention warrant was issued on September 2, 2025. Determination of the suspect against Delpedro, according to AyyUBi, is invalid because he is carrying out his duties as Executive Director of the Lokataru Foundation in order to ensure that the state respects, protects, and fulfills the human rights of citizens.

"Delpedro is here to ensure that the demonstration rights of students, students, laborers, online motorcycle taxi drivers, and the general public are running properly," said AyyUBi.

During the trial, Delpedro asked the panel of judges to declare the determination of the suspect invalid and order the Polda Metro Jaya to immediately release him from the detention center.

The pretrial application is registered with case number 132 / Pid.Pra / 2025 / PN JKT.SEL. The Respondent in this case is the Director of Cyber Investigation and the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya.

Previously, Delpedro Marhaen along with three other people 'Muzafar Salim (Lokataru Foundation staff), Syahdan Husein (Admin Gejayan Calling), and Khariq Anhar (Riau University student as well as admin of the Plaintiff Student Alliance) were arrested after a demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR Building on August 25, 2025.

The four of them were accused of being involved in alleged incitement to anarchic acts through social media which led to chaos during the demonstration.

The trial for examining the Delpedro case file will be held on Friday starting at 10.00 WIB at the South Jakarta District Court.
