Governor Mahyeldi's Son Becomes Acting Chairman Of PSI West Sumatra

The Central Leadership Council of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) confirmed that the son of the Governor of West Sumatra Mahyeldi, namely Taufiqur Rahman, was appointed as Acting Chairman of the West Sumatra PSI Regional Leadership Council.

"It's true, he (Taufiqur Rahman) has received a decree as Plt. Chairman of the West Sumatra PSI DPW," said Chairman of the West Sumatra PSI DPW for the 2020-2025 Sukma Trianda reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 16.

Sukma said that after being appointed as Plt. The chairman of the West Sumatra PSI DPW, Taifiqur, was asked to immediately arrange for the management of the 2025-2030 term within one month after receiving a decree from the Central PSI DPP.

He said before being appointed as Plt. The chairman of the West Sumatra PSI DPW, the son of the West Sumatra Governor, met with the central board several times until he finally received a decree from the PSI General Chair on Wednesday (15/10).

"So, Taufiqur feels suitable so this is based on the wishes of both parties," he said.

He confirmed that after the appointment of Taufiqur Rahman to become Plt. The chairman of the West Sumatra PSI DPW, PSI, set a target for 19 districts and cities in the Minang realm to have representatives of the people in the next election.

"Now we have succeeded in placing one representative of the people in the Mentawai Islands Regency and we hope that the next election of 19 regencies and cities will already have representatives," he hoped.

Taufiqur's appointment was announced on Wednesday (15/10/2025) during the consolidation of the PSI DPP in Jakarta. During the activity, he was present with PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep and PSI Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni.

Taufiqur is Mahyeldi's fourth child to run as a candidate for legislature for the West Sumatra DPRD from PKS in the 2024 General Election, but failed to advance to parliament.
