The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team of the Riau Islands Regional Police on Thursday, identified 10 bodies of victims of the MT Federal II tanker fire that occurred at the shipyard owned by PT ASL Marine Shippyard.

Head of the Medical and Health Division of the Riau Islands Police, Police Commissioner M. Zakir, said that all the bodies were identified with a fingerprint match and special medical characteristics.

"We together with the team carried out DVI operations with a fingerprint approach, medical data match, property match and dental profile (ogontology), the Riau Islands Police DVI Team through a reconciliation trial process has identified all victims," said Zakir at Bhayangkara Hospital. He explained that the DVI operation against victims of the Federal II ship fire had been carried out since Wednesday, October 15 at 13.00 WIB.

The ten bodies that were previously evacuated from the location of the fire to a number of hospitals were sent to the Bhayangkara Hospital of the Riau Islands Police for identification purposes.

This identification process, he continued, was completed on Thursday morning at 05.00 WIB and was handed over to the family at 09.45 WIB.

In this identification process, the Riau Islands Police DVI personnel requested supporting data from the victim's family.

After the process of identifying the bodies is complete, the Riau Islands Police DVI Team then takes steps to repatriate bodies, preservatives, and tightening.

"All the bodies have been handed over to the heirs and repatriated to their hometowns," said Zakir, who is also the Head of the Riau Islands Police DVI Team.

Of the 10 bodies, he said, two bodies were handed over to the heirs in the Batam City area, one body to Pekanbaru, one body to Pagar Alam, South Sumatra, and five bodies to Medan, North Sumatra.

"The return of bodies to their hometowns is carried out collectively," he said.

The cause of death of the victims was based on the identification results due to serious burns.

"The burns found vary, there are light, moderate, to severe, so that these light ones can be immediately identified. Actually, there are some that can be seen directly physically, but we must carry out the identification process according to the DVI procedure," said Zakir.

The following is the data for the ten victims:

1. The body with the code PM 002 was identified as the Prengki Protestant Pane, a resident of Batu Aji with the basis of fingerprint identification and special character matching.

2. The body with PM code 001 was identified as Anton, a resident of Sagulung, on the basis of fingerprint identification, special medical characteristics and property data matching.

3. The body of PM 005 code was identified as Chandra Edi Saputra Pasaribu, a resident of Sagulung, on the basis of fingerprint identification, and special medical characteristics matching.

4. The body with the code PM 008 was identified as Andi Haryono, a resident of Batu Aji, on the basis of fingerprint identification, special medical characteristics and property data matching.

5. The body of PM code 003 was identified as Habibullah Siregar, a resident of Medan, on the basis of fingerprint identification and special medical characteristics matching.

6. The body of PM 006 code was identified as Krisman Simatupang, a resident of Batu Aji, with the basis of fingerprint identification and a match of special medical characteristics.

7. The body of PM 004 code was identified as Ramadan Rizki, with the basis of identifying the suitability of the dental profile and property match.

8. The body of PM 007 code was identified as Maradong Tampubolon, a resident of Batu Aji, on the basis of identifying the suitability of the dental profile.

9. The body of code 009 was identified as Dimas Saputra, a resident of Pagar Alam, on the basis of identifying the suit profile of the teeth and the suit of special medical characteristics.

10. The body of PM code 0010 was identified as Indris Sardi, a resident of Bilah Buluh, Aceh, on the basis of identification of special medical matches.
