Still Operating Despite Being Reprimanded, Illegal Mining In Jepara Is Immediately Sealed

JEPARA - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Jepara, Central Java, has sealed the illegal Galian C location in Geneng Village, Batealit District, which is considered disturbing residents and damaging the environment.

The sealing was carried out by the Integrated Team for the Arrangement of Non-Memberal Mining and Batuan (MBLB), involving the Environment Agency, PUPR Service, and Satpol PP.

The head of the MBLB Mining Integrated Team, Aris Setiawan, explained that the closure was a follow-up to the Environmental Service Reprimand Letter Number 660.1/135 on July 11, 2025 and the results of a field review on September 24, 2025.

"There are many complaints from the surrounding community who are restless and disturbed by illegal mining," he said in Jepara, Antara, Monday, October 13.

Aris said the mine was operating without a permit and did not reclamation, causing environmental damage.

Based on Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2023 concerning the RTRW of Jepara Regency 2023 2043, the mine site is located in residential areas and food crop areas that are not intended for mining.

"This is part of Forkopimda's joint commitment, that all illegal mines will be brought under control," he stressed.

Previously, the mine owner had received a Mining Closure Reprimand Letter Number 660/224 dated October 10, 2025, but continued to carry out activities. Therefore, the team then installed the Satpol PP (Satpol PP Line) line as a sign of official sealing.

According to Aris, violations of the sealing line will be included in the criminal realm and become the authority of the police. He hopes that this action will provide a deterrent effect and encourage public participation to report if they find illegal mining activities in the Jepara area.
