Protect Ternate Coast, Governor Of North Maluku Builds Wave Breakers As High As 300 Meters

JAKARTA - Governor of North Maluku (Malut) Sherly Tjoanda immediately built a 300-meter-long wavebreaker to protect the coast of Jambula, Ternate City.

The governor said this was to answer the demands of the people of Kampung Fishermen who carried out road closures as a form of protest over infrastructure conditions on the coast of Jambula, Monday.

During the visit, Governor Sherly ensured that the North Maluku Provincial Government had coordinated with the River Basin Center (BWS) and the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to immediately build a 300-meter-long breakwater.

"It is certain that it will be built soon, it is 300 meters, and the budget is Rp. 20 billion," said Governor Sherly in front of residents, confiscated by Antara.

This development is intended to protect the Jambula coastal area from large waves that often damage fishing boats and threaten residential areas.

In addition to the construction of wave breakers, the Governor also emphasized that the replacement of fishing boats damaged by large waves will be realized in the first week until the second month of December.

Meanwhile, for the rehabilitation of the Jambula Fisherman Village production road, the Governor said that the Ternate City Government would carry out its implementation.

"The Secretary of Ternate City will repair drainage and production roads," said Sherly.

Sherly also ensured that she would provide bathroom construction assistance for the residents of Jambula Fishermen's Village. This assistance is to improve the quality of life of the community through more appropriate basic facilities.

"We are not only building large infrastructure, but also meeting the basic needs of residents such as sanitation and healthy housing. The government is here to directly answer the needs of the community," he said.
