Police Hunt For Forest Cat Suppliers From Ciamis In The Case Of Rare Animal Trade

The perpetrators of the two cases of selling endangered animals in the form of a jungle cat cub (Prionaisurus Bengalensis) or kuwuk cat are now being hunted by the Muara Baru Regional Police.

"The perpetrator with the initials FAM, who lives in Ciamis, is the supplier of this kuwuk cat," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of the Muara Baru Regional Police, Ipda Fauzy Widi in Jakarta, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, 11

He said the perpetrator ASM (27) who had been arrested by the Muara Baru Regional Police admitted to buying the endangered animal from FAM in Ciamis.

He admitted that he had bought the three cats that were two months old to the FAM perpetrators. The cat was sold by FAM perpetrators to AMS in the amount of Rp. 250 thousand per head.

"The ASM perpetrator admitted that the two cats that had been bought managed to escape from his house in the Halim Perdana Kusuma area, East Jakarta," he said.

He said his party would continue to develop this case to arrest the perpetrators of FAM who are still fugitives.

He also explained that the ASM perpetrator is known to have not worked and often traded rare animals. "When asked if they know anything about violating the rules, the perpetrator knows it," he said.

The money from the sale of these animals is used to meet daily needs.

Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Muara Baru Regional Police arrested a man with the initials ASM (27) who was suspected of trading endangered species of a jungle cat (Prionaisurus Bengalensis) or a two-month-old kuwuk cat sold online.

"The perpetrator was arrested on Jalan Pasar Ikan Modern Muara Baru, Penjaringan District on Tuesday (7/10)," said Muara Baru Regional Police Chief AKP Kurniawan accompanied by Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Ipda Fauzy Widi in Jakarta, Friday (10/10).
