JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) stated that spagety and hamburger are a request menu from students which is one of the ways for the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in overcoming students who are bored with rice as a source of carbohydrates.

This was conveyed by Deputy Head of BGN Nanik S. Deyang in response to criticism from one of the nutritionists who considered that the MBG menu did not come from local foods, for example in the presentation of spageti and burgers.

"I'm sorry someone criticized, 'When are there spageties? When are burgers given, what are the nutrients? So, I'm sorry, it's not always. So these SPPG children have creativity, creativity like this, let's not get tired of eating rice," said Nanik at a press conference held at the BGN Office, Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, September 27.

Nanik explained that students are allowed to submit requests for the MBG menu that they will consume. However, the request menu is only allowed once a week.

According to Nanik, the Spagety and burger menu is a form of creativity for one of the SPPGs in the regions so that students don't get tired of eating rice.

He emphasized that the food specifically requested by students was not the daily menu.

On the other hand, Nanik also explained that students in the outermost areas may know about spagety and burgers from social media, so it is the menu that is requested to go to SPPG for cooking.

"Maybe he watches it on TV or watches it on YouTube, then what do you want to eat, one week it can be requested once. So the children can request once, so they don't get bored with this food. So we don't give it day to day like that," said Nanik.

Previously, Nutritionist Tan Shot Yen expressed his concern with the MBG menu consisting of burgers and spageti, instead of local food from the local area.

He asked BGN to allocate 80 percent of the MBG menu as local food, for example the fish soup menu in the Papua region, and limestone consumed by students in Sulawesi.
