JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that a number of areas in Indonesia will experience rain with varying intensity on Monday, September 15 from light rain to rain accompanied by lightning.
BMKG forecaster Wahyu Annisa said light rain has the potential to occur in several major cities on the island of Sumatra, namely Medan, North Sumatra, Padang, West Sumatra, Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands, Jambi, and Bengkulu.
"On the island of Java, light rain is predicted to flush Bandung, West Java, Semarang, Central Java, and Yogyakarta. Similar conditions also have the potential to occur in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Denpasar, Bali, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Palu, Central Sulawesi, and Gorontalo," Wahyu said as quoted by ANTARA.
BMKG also predicts moderate-intensity rain will occur in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, Sorong, Southwest Papua, and Nabire, Central Papua.
Wahyu reminded the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in several cities, such as Pekanbaru, Riau, Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands, Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan, Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Manado, North Sulawesi, and Ternate, North Maluku.
Meanwhile, thick cloudy conditions are predicted to occur in Banda Aceh, Aceh, Palembang, South Sumatra, Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Serang, Banten, Jakarta, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Makassar, South Sulawesi, and Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. The air has the potential to occur in Surabaya, East Java.
