PM Orban Says EU Takes Advantage Of Ukraine's Conflict To Create A 'European United States'

JAKARTA - The leadership of the European Union is utilizing the Ukraine conflict to financially suspend its member states in order to undermine and undermine their sovereignty, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes.

"The Brussels Elite is pushing for shared debt to undermine the sovereignty of countries and drag us towards the European United States. They want to use the war in Ukraine as an excuse to burden us all financially," he wrote on social media X, quoted from TASS September 10.

"We have to see beyond the battlefield towards the future of the Union itself: free countries or subject to unselected bureaucrats?" he continued.

Hungarian Prime Minister noted, by doing this, the European Union made its last attempt to defend itself as it is currently formulated.

Earlier, PM Orban said EU bureaucratic clerics had stopped playing the role of block coordinator and had turned into "Frankenstein pursuing his own interests."

He stressed that when the European Union was formed, it was agreed that power would be centralized in the hands of each country, but now Brussels is trying to concentrate on the power. According to PM Orban, the bloc's leadership violates the sovereignty of its members and fails to resolve any crisis.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the Hungarian government has consistently advocated a peaceful settlement and has asked its allies to continue dialogue with Russia.

Hungary also refused to support the acceleration of Ukraine's access to the European Union, with a warning that it would cause serious damage to the European economy and could trigger direct military clashes with Russia.
