The Car Driver Who Taken Away Rp10 Billion From Bank Jateng Has Spent Rp300 Million In A Week

SURAKARTA - Police arrested a car driver transporting money belonging to Bank Jateng Wonogiri Branch, Central Java, who fled with Rp10 billion after a week of escaping.

Wakapolresta Surakarta AKBP Sigit said suspect A was arrested on Monday in the Gunungkidul area, Yogyakarta.

During the escape for about a week, he continued, the perpetrators had spent around Rp. 300 million of the total money he had taken away.

"Around Rp. 300 million is used to buy cars, cell phones, and down payment for buying a house," he said in Semarang, Antara, Tuesday, September 9.

According to him, the incident of embezzlement of money belonging to Bank Jateng began when the perpetrator was tasked with taking Rp11 billion from Bank Jateng Surakarta to be brought to Wonogiri on September 1, 2025.

When taking the money, he said, the perpetrator departed from Bank Jateng Wonogiri Branch along with a bank officer and a police officer as a bodyguard.

The car previously took IDR 6 billion at the Bank Indonesia Surakarta office, before continuing the collection at Bank Jateng Surakarta Branch.

When making money at Bank Jateng Surakarta Branch located on Jalan Slamet Riyadi, Solo City, he continued, the perpetrator took advantage of the negligence of the money car guard.

The perpetrator took away the money transporter's car when the guard from the police went to the bathroom.

From the arrest of the suspect, who is an employee of the Central Java Bank, the police secured Rp9.6 billion which had not been spent.

In disclosing the case, the police also arrested the suspect DS who played a role in helping A when he fled.

For his actions, suspect A was charged with Article 374 of the Criminal Code regarding criminal acts of embezzlement with weighting, while suspect DS was charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning detention.
