Rattan's Voice On The Sabang Kejari Courtyard: Cambuk Execution For 3 Gambling Convicts

SABANG - The public prosecutor of the Sabang District Attorney's Office (Kejari) executed three convicts of gambling or gambling cases after the legal decision was permanent (inkrah).

The execution took place in public, in the courtyard of the Sabang Kejari Office, Monday today. The caning was also witnessed by elements of the Sabang City Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and supervisory judges from the Sabang Sharia Court.

The three convicts are Muslem, Al Qadri, and Musliadi. The three were found guilty of violating Article 18 of Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law related to gambling, and each was sentenced to 12 lashes.

The head of the Sabang Prosecutor's Office, Milono Raharjo, said that the execution of the whip was the implementation of the sharia court's decision which had permanent legal force.

"The implementation of the caning is the responsibility of the public prosecutor, assisted by elements of the local government in accordance with Aceh Qanun Number 7 of 2013 concerning the Jinayat Procedure Law," Milono said as quoted by Antara, Monday, September 8.

The implementation of these penalties is not only a form of compliance with court decisions, but also an effort to provide a deterrent effect to lawbreakers and a warning to the public not to repeat acts prohibited by Islamic law.

“Kami berkomitmen menegakkan hukum syariat Islam di Kota Sabang. Kami juga mengapresiasi semua pihak yang telah mendukung kelancaran pelaksanaan hukuman cambuk ini,” ujarnya.

"We are committed to enforcing Islamic law in Sabang City. We also appreciate all parties who have supported the smooth implementation of this caning sentence," he said.
