WEST LOMBOK - Police officers have raised the status of handling the death case of Brigadier Esco Faska Rely, a member of the West Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), to the investigation stage.
The increase in the status of this case was known to the family of Brigadier Esco after meeting with the West Lombok Police Chief AKBP Yasmara Harahap on Thursday, September 4.
The attorney for the victim's family, Lalu Anton Hariawan, said that the police had issued an investigation warrant since September 2, 2025.
"Earlier we questioned the status of the handling, it turns out that the case, as of September 2, has gone up to the investigation stage," Anton said as quoted by Antara.
He said the move was in line with the statement by the Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the NTB Police, Kombes Syarif Hidayat, who previously said that the autopsy results showed a blunt object impact on Brigadier Esco's body.
"That this case is said to be his life (Brigadier Esco) missing due to being hit by a blunt object. It means that there has been an unlawful act, that is clear. At the beginning it was already there, so it should be investigated," he said.
With the status of the case now entering the investigation stage, Anton expressed his family's hope that Brigadier Esco's family would immediately identify the suspect.
"So this case is pro justitia, going up to the investigation stage, there is an unlawful act, it's just who the perpetrators are," he said.
In addition to urging the perpetrators to be determined immediately, the family also asked those who were aware of a criminal act but did not report to be prosecuted.
"People who know there is a crime, even though he did not participate in committing the murder, but did not report it, we also ask for action," said Anton.
West Lombok Police Chief AKBP Yasmara Harahap, when confirmed separately, was reluctant to provide a detailed explanation regarding the increase in case status.
"When it comes to this, I can't give any information. We can't tell it because of the joint investigation. So far, the regional police have conveyed the information," he said.
He only confirmed that Brigadier Esco's family and his attorney had just come to meet him. "The problem he came earlier is true. That's all I can say," said Yasmara.
