Central Java Police have arrested 318 people suspected of being linked to the attack on the police headquarters located on Jalan Pahlawan, Semarang City.
"As of 19.30 WIB, 318 people were arrested," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Artanto, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 30.
He said the group, most of whom were teenagers, attacked the Central Java Police Headquarters on Saturday afternoon.
Officers guarding the Central Java Police Headquarters tried to disperse the anarchist group pushing the crowd by firing tear gas.
The officers then chased the perpetrators who ran scattered in various directions around the Regional Police Headquarters.
He appealed to the public to remain calm following the conducive security and order situation in the Semarang City area.
"The community remains calm and should not be easily provoked by anarchic actions that harm the community and the economy," he added.
