Reflecting On The Case Of A Baby Raya, Dedi Mulyadi Asked The Village Head In West Java To Be Sensitive To Residents' Complaints

JAKARTA - West Java (Jabar) Governor Dedi Mulyadi asked village officials to be sensitive to their environment, including with various complaints, reflecting on the case of the death of a four-year-old toddler named Raya in Sukabumi Regency, some time ago.

The reason, he said, is that currently various problems arise in villages due to the lack of sensitivity of village officials to community affairs.

"The village head must be sensitive to the environment, open to residents' complaints. The various problems that arise at this time are due to insensitiveness to community affairs. I exemplify Raya's case, for example," said Dedi in Bandung, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

He admitted that he had met with a father from Raya and it was revealed that his father was a massager who subscribed to the village head.

Therefore, Dedi was surprised that the family's condition, where his father was affected by bronchitis, then his mother contracted TB, and Raya, who eventually had health problems, was not helped.

"It turns out that the massager Mr. Kades is like that, now Mr. Kades has a massage period every day and his father Raya has Bronchitis, then his mother has TB, how come it's not treated," he said.

Dedi said that even if the village did not have a budget for treatment, the provincial government would be open to taking over financing.

"Now when you talk about not having money for treatment, I've opened up. Already (please) report to the governor later it will be handled, there won't be a problem," he said.

Previously, ANTARA noted that Raya's toddler was taken to a hospital in Sukabumi on July 13, 2025 due to deworming.

While in treatment, suddenly the worm came out of the toddler's nose.

The results of the examination showed that Raya had an insariasis, namely infections caused by Ascaris lumbricoids or roundworms.

The mother of the toddler is suspected of having mental problems, making it difficult to provide care. Meanwhile, his father suffers from tuberculosis (TB).

In addition, the family does not have a family card and BPJS Health membership, so they cannot access health services.

The toddler then died on July 22, 2025.
