Head Of DKP Bengkulu Threatened With Layered Articles Of Hit-and-Run Cases

BENGKULU - Bengkulu Police said the Head of the Bengkulu City Maritime and Fisheries Service (DKP), chase Naidi, was threatened with nine years in prison after being named a suspect in a hit-and-run case that left a resident dead on the spot.

The Bengkulu Police Chief, Kombes Sudarno, explained that the suspect was charged with multiple articles, namely Article 310 paragraph 4 of Law (UU) Number 22 of 2009 and Article 312 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation.

"For Article 310 the threat is six years in prison, while Article 312 is three years in prison," said Sudarno as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 26.

The suspect has been detained at the Bengkulu Police Station and a notification letter for the start of the investigation (SPDP) has been sent to the Bengkulu District Attorney (Kejari).

Meanwhile, the Bengkulu Police Traffic Unit (Satlantas) has examined a number of witnesses, including the victim's wife, related to the hit-and-run case that killed Adi Afrianto (49), a resident of Pagar Dewa Village, Bengkulu City, on Sunday (18/8/2025) at 06.09 WIB.

Head of Bengkulu Police Traffic Unit, AKP Aan Setiawan, said the witnesses examined were those who were at the scene.

The vehicle used by the perpetrator is an official car belonging to the Bengkulu City Government (Pemkot) of the blue Innova type. The car was covered with tarpaulin at the perpetrator's residence to hide its whereabouts.

The chronology of the incident began when an official car with a red plate drove from Pasir Putih Beach to Panjang Beach, precisely around the Bengkulu Sport Center.

Arriving behind Bencoolen Mall, the vehicle driven by the suspect in high speed tried to overtake the car in front of him.

"When he was about to overtake from the right, the traffic conditions were busy. The suspect then swerved to the left and was out of control and hit the victim. After that, the perpetrator swerved again until he hit the pole," said Aan.

Based on the information, the suspect had fled for fear of the tantrums of the masses.

However, this case was finally revealed after the police received information from the public and traced CCTV footage around the scene.
