KPK Reveals Mercedes Benz 280 SL Confiscated Related To The BJB Case In The Name Of BJ Habibie

Mercedes Benz 280 SL confiscated by the KPK in connection with the BJB corruption case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that Mercedes Benz 280 SL was confiscated in connection with allegations of corruption in the procurement of advertisements at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk or Bank BJB (BJBR) once owned by the 3rd President of the Republic of Indonesia B. J. Habibie.

This was conveyed by the acting (Plt) Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu when asked about the examination of Ilham Habibie, who is the son of President Habibie.

According to him, the Mercedes Pagoda is historical because of the name in the ownership certificate.

"If I'm not mistaken, because that's the value, I don't think it's the car, who is it, but what makes it valuable if I'm not mistaken, the STNK is still STNK in the name of its father (Ilham Habibie, ed)," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, August 25.

The investigators will investigate the purchase of this car against Ilham Habibie. The former deputy mayor of Bandung will be summoned again in the near future.

This is because he did not fulfill the summons on Friday, August 22 on the grounds that he was in Malaysia.

"I kind of forgot (the summons was held again, ed) whether next week or next week again. But, what is clear is that he has given us time to ask for information," he said.

The KPK has confiscated a number of vehicles allegedly owned by former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. One of them is the Mercedes Benz 280 SL which is said to be in a workshop to be restored.

The vehicle was confiscated for allegedly related to a non-budgeter fund of Bank BJB managed by the corporate secretary (corsec) section.

This non-budgeter fund is money obtained from the difference in paying for the procurement of advertisements by Bank BJB. The agency's company is suspected of returning the money through the corsec division.

Previously reported, the KPK has named five suspects in connection with allegations of corruption in the procurement of advertisements at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk or Bank BJB (BJBR). They are former President Director of Bank BJB Yuddy Renaldi; Head of Corporate Secretary Division of Bank BJB Widi Hartoto; Agency Controller Antedja Muliatama and Cakrawala Kreasi Mandiri Kin Asikin Dulmanan.

Then BSC Administration Agency Controller and PT Wahana Semesta Bandung Ekspres (WSBE) Suhendrik; and Controlling PT Cipta Karya Sukses Bersama (CKSB) and PT Cipta Karya Mandiri Bersama (CKMB) Raden Sophan Jaya Kusuma.

This case investigation warrant (sprindik) was issued on February 27, 2025. The actions of the five suspects are suspected of having caused the state to lose up to Rp22 billion.

Currently, the detention has not been carried out on five suspects. However, they have been prevented from traveling abroad for six months and can be extended according to the needs of the investigation.
