Not Yet Seen as of This Afternoon, the Corruption Eradication Committee is Waiting for Pati Regent Sudewo

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is awaiting the arrival of Pati Regent Sudewa, also known as Sudewo, at the KPK's Merah Putih building in Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, August 22nd. He will be questioned regarding alleged bribery related to railway construction at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) at the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"We'll wait and see if the person concerned will appear and fulfill the summons," KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building in Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, August 22nd.

Budi stated that Sudewo will be questioned regarding alleged bribery related to railway construction. However, he did not elaborate on the details.

"The person concerned has been summoned in connection with alleged corruption in railway construction projects, specifically in Central Java," he emphasized.

The anti-corruption commission previously confirmed that Sudewo had returned the money he received in connection with the alleged DJKA bribery. However, this restitution does not mean he has been pardoned.

"Yes, as stated in court, it has been returned," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Asep Guntur Rahayu, to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building in Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, as quoted on Friday, August 14.

Asep stated that Article 4 of the Corruption Eradication Law states that the restitution of money does not erase the crime committed. Sudewo is suspected of receiving a commitment fee in this case, and this was revealed in court in November 2023.

Furthermore, the KPK stated that Sudewo is suspected of being involved in DJKA projects in several areas. "His role wasn't limited to the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro project," emphasized Asep, who is also the KPK's Director of Investigations.

"So we are still waiting because this must be complete. So, the person concerned (Sudewo, ed.) wasn't just involved in that project; he played a role in almost all of them," he continued.
