Puan Regarding Hasto Again Appointed By Megawati As Secretary General: That's The Prerogative Chairman

JAKARTA - The chairman of the DPR and the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP, Puan Maharani, responded to the question of the reason why Hasto Kristiyanto was re-appointed as Secretary General of the PDIP by General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. Puan said that Hasto's election as secretary general for the third time was the prerogative of the Ketum.

"Yes, it is the prerogative of the general chairman," said Puan at the DPR building, Friday, August 15.

Puan hopes that the PDI-P will be better and more solid in the future under the leadership of Ketum Megawati.

"And it can correct yesterday's mistakes, maybe it's one thing we do to the people, self-criticize into, evaluate inward so that the party in the future can be trusted again by the people," said Puan.

When asked about the consideration of appointing Hasto back as secretary general after being released from the KPK detention center for the case of interim replacement bribery (PAW), Puan again stated that it was the right of the Ketum.

Puan was reluctant to comment on whether the issue was also discussed in the PDIP inaugural meeting at the PDIP DPP office after the VI Congress.

"That's the prerogative of the general chairman. So when it comes then there will be an inauguration, so indeed it has become a consideration after the Congress in Bali," he said.

"(About Hasto's consideration of being secretary general) Yes, it's a secret," concluded Puan.
