JAKARTA - Polish prosecutors have indicted a Ukrainian citizen for his involvement in sending parcel bombs using a courier company.
The indictment has been filed with District Court in the city of Piotrkow Trybunalski, central Poland, against a Ukrainian citizen named Kristina S.
The Polish Homeland Security Agency (ABW) announced that Kristina S. was charged under the Criminal Code's article regarding the act of causing damage through arson or explosion. This criminal article does not include cooperation with foreign intelligence agencies.
The parcel bomb package was found in the warehouse of a courier company in the nearby city, Lodz. The statement did not provide details about the alleged motive.
European authorities have increased awareness of explosive packages since a series of explosions at courier depots in England, Germany, and near the Polish capital, Warsaw, in July 2024. Western officials blamed Russia for the incidents.
European officials, in recent years, have blamed Moscow for acts of sabotage such as arson. Moscow denies the allegations.
ABW's statement said "in July 2024, the defendants participated in the delivery of packages transported by a courier company, containing explosives," a trigger and electric detonator, among other items.
"This structure is a so-called payload bomb in shape," ABW said.
