"The Customs and Excise officers managed to thwart the shipment of 1,100,600 million illegal cigarettes," said Head of the Customs Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office B Bandarlampung Arif in a statement in Bandarlampung, Antara, Monday, August 11.

The prosecution began with intelligence related to the illegal shipment of cigarettes using a truck numbered AD 8505 LF. Following up, the Bandar Lampung Customs team and investigation carried out monitoring around Bakauheni Port.

"At around 17.30 WIB, the team managed to identify the vehicle in question and carry out the termination and inspection. From the results of the examination, it was found that tobacco products (BKC) were not attached to excise stamps," he said.

Furthermore, Arif said the team carried out control delivery to the recipients of goods in Bandar Rejo Village, Way Pengubuan District, Central Lampung Regency. At 22.00 WIB, the team again found similar illegal cigarettes at the recipient's house.

"So that all evidence is secured to the Bandarlampung Customs Office for further investigation," he said.

He said that the illegal cigarettes that were secured had the brand Jesbol Gingser, JB Bold, and Exclusive JS Bold with an estimated value of goods reaching Rp1.64 billion.

"Of the illegal cigarettes that were confiscated, the potential loss to the state was due to the lack of excise obligations of Rp. 1.07 billion," he said.

He said that in this operation, four people were also arrested for questioning, namely two recipients of goods with the initials Y and S, as well as truck drivers and assistants with the initials A and G.

"For their actions, the examinees are suspected of violating Article 54 of Law Number 11 of 1995 concerning Excise as amended by Law Number 39 of 2007, which regulates the prohibition of trading BKC without being attached to excise stamps," he said.
