KUDUS - The Regional Inspectorate of Kudus Regency, Central Java, examined the Chairperson and Treasurer of the School Principal Work Group (K3S) of Jati District regarding allegations of illegal levies (extortion) against teachers and principals in the area.
"In addition to examining the Head of K3S Jati Sub-district, we are also examining the K3S treasurer," said Head of the Kudus Inspectorate Eko Djumartono accompanied by an Inspectorate auditor in Kudus, Antara, Tuesday, August 5.
From the results of the initial examination, it was known that there was a monthly withdrawal of contributions charged to elementary school teachers of Rp. 30,000 and to school principals of Rp. 40,000.
According to Eko, until now the total funds that are still stored from the proceeds from the contribution have reached around Rp. 70 million. The funds are claimed to be used for social activities and the development of the teacher profession.
"There is an accountability report, but it is suspected that not all teachers have deposited dues knowing the details of its use," said Eko.
The Inspectorate is still digging for further information by asking for information from teachers regarding whether these activities are actually carried out and funded from the contributions collected every month.
Initially, this contribution was said to be aimed at supporting activities to increase the capacity of teachers, whose funds partly came from schools and others from K3S. However, in practice, funds are also used to finance the maintenance of the Jati District Education Coordinating Office (Korwil).
In fact, according to Eko, the government office maintenance budget should have been available through the APBD and could not be charged to teachers or school principals.
"After the entire inspection process is complete, we will provide recommendations to the Kudus Regency Education, Youth and Sports Office," he added.
The Inspectorate received a report on the alleged extortion on June 28, 2025. The examination of related parties began on August 4, 2025, after a written report from three teachers and from non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Other information states that due funds are also used to pay three honorary employees at the Jati District Education Regional Office. However, now there is only one employee left, so questions arise about the remaining use of funds after the two honorarys resigned.
Every month, the funds collected from the contribution are estimated at IDR 4 million to IDR 5 million.
