KPK Encourages Separation Of Functions For Hajj Financial Implementation And Management

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) supports the government's plan to separate the function of financial management and organizing Hajj. This step is considered to strengthen the check and balance mechanism.

"From the KPK, we really hope that with the separation of these functions in the future, it will not extend the bureaucratic chain. Instead, the hope is that it will make checks and balances or mutual control mechanisms more effective," said Acting Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the KPK Aminuddin in a KPK RI YouTube broadcast quoted Monday, August 4.

Aminuddin said that each institution involved in the organization of the pilgrimage has its own role.

It is known that currently the Hajj Organizing Body (BP) is in charge of implementing it while the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) is in charge of hajj funds.

With this separation, continued Aminuddin, a stronger supervisory structure will be created between institutions. BP Haji and BPKH will have separate responsibilities and authorities but are interrelated.

So as to minimize the potential for overlaps and conflicts of interest in carrying out tasks. "We hope that with a structure like this, supervision will become sharper," said Aminuddin.

"Not only from external, but also from the internals of each institution. There is a strong internal control system, and each of them can monitor each other without having to intervene in each other's authority," he continued.

Furthermore, the KPK hopes that the public can increasingly trust the institutions that take care of the pilgrimage in the country. Aminuddin stated that his party is ready to provide support in the form of assistance, monitoring, and preventing corruption towards a new system.

"If this system goes well, then the trust will be stronger. However, if it is not managed transparently, the risk is very large," he concluded.
