JAKARTA - Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei firmly rejected US President Donald Trump's recent claims regarding Iran's interference in Gaza's ceasefire negotiations.
Iran together with all countries strongly condemns Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza, supporting any process that can stop ongoing crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people and reduce their suffering, Baqaei told IRNA, as reported July 29.
The reaction follows accusations by President Trump that Iran interfered in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
"I think they were involved in these negotiations, informed Hamas and gave a signal and an order to Hamas. And that's not good," President Trump claims.
In response to this, Bagaei noted that Hamas negotiators themselves are fully able to understand and fight for the best interests of the oppressed Gazan people, and do not need third parties to intervene in negotiations.
The spokesman said Iran's claims of interference were completely baseless, calling it the avoidance of US responsibility and accountability for its involvement in crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people, including the killing of 60,000 innocent people, including women and children in Gaza.
