23 Village Heads To Sub-district Heads In Lahat Affected By Extortion OTT Tens Of Millions

PALEMBANG - As many as 23 officials from village heads, sub-district heads, as well as administrators of Pagar Gunung District, Lahat Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel) were caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT) carried out by the Lahat Kejari.

The group of village heads and sub-district heads caught OTT by the Lahat Kejari arrived by car to the South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, at 22.17 WIB, Thursday, July 24.

When they got out of the car, the village heads and sub-district heads lined up and looked down, some of them were even still wearing official clothes.

Until this news was revealed, investigators from both the Lahat Kejari and the South Sumatra Prosecutor's Office were still conducting further investigations on the village heads and sub-district heads.

Based on the information gathered, the Lahat Kejari conducted OTT on the village heads and sub-district heads while holding a coordination meeting to welcome the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence at the Pagar Gunung sub-district office, Lahat Regency.

From the results of the operation, the investigators also confiscated evidence in the form of cash of more than Rp. 60 million.

The funds are thought to have come from illegal levies (extortion) practices carried out at the request of the sub-district head to the village heads for various reasons.
