The National Police Chief Ensures Strict Actions On Rice Oplosers

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized that he followed the direction of President Prabowo Subianto who ordered him and the Attorney General to take firm action against rice makers.

"Yes (following up). The team has been moving since yesterday," said the National Police Chief as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 22.

The National Police Chief said that the National Police's Food Task Force, which investigated the alleged violation of the amount and quality of rice, would deliver an initial release regarding the results of the investigation in the near future.

"Maybe tomorrow there will be a periodic initial release. Later, the National Police Food Task Force will submit it," he added.

Previously, the National Police Chief had revealed that investigators at the National Police Food Task Force continued to examine distributors and producers who were suspected of mixing rice and reduced the dose, namely the size of rice did not match the packaging.

In addition, the National Police Chief also said that the National Police's Food Task Force checked the condition of rice in the laboratory as part of the investigation process for the alleged existence of a producer who violated the quality.

"We are working with the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to conduct laboratory checks on them (rice)," he said.

"Usually wrapped rice stamps are sold for Rp. 5,000, above the highest retail price. These brothers are fraud, this is a crime. I ask the Attorney General and the Chief of Police to investigate and take action, this is a crime," said Prabowo.

The President believes that the Attorney General and the National Police Chief have loyalty to the Indonesian nation and people and to the sovereignty of the state.

According to the President, as long as they still have the opportunity, state officials must be in line defending the truth, justice, and the interests of the people.

"The Attorney General and the National Police Chief, I am sure that you are loyal to the Indonesian nation and people, I am sure you are loyal to the sovereignty of the Indonesian nation. Investigate, act. We do not know how long we are still on this earth, we can at any time be called the Almighty. It is better before we are called, we defend the truth and justice, we defend our people, "said the President.
