DKI Provincial Government Targets Free Private School Gubernatorial Regulation To Be Issued In The Next 2 Months

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has carried out trials of free private school programs in 40 schools ranging from elementary, junior high, to high school/vocational schools. However, this program does not yet have a legal umbrella that approves its implementation.

Special Staff to the Governor of DKI Jakarta for Public Communication Chico Hakim said that the DKI Provincial Government is currently drafting a governor regulation (pergub) that approves free private school trials.

It is targeted that the governor's regulation will be signed by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, and will be issued in the next two months.

"It's been about 2 months at most. The process of preparing legal products is still ongoing in the service with the Legal Bureau," Chico said in a short message, Thursday, July 17.

In the implementation of the trial, the DKI Provincial Government runs this program in 40 private schools. It is recorded that around 4,932 students from 40 private schools in Jakarta have received a reduction in education costs. The DKI Provincial Government has prepared a budget of Rp90 billion for this year's free school trials.

Previously, the Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Taga Radja Gah, admitted that the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, had not issued a free school governor's regulation. "We simultaneously (run the program and prepare the governor's regulation) at the same time. If we wait for the governor's regulation first, later (students registered for free schools) we can't go to school. Poor," Taga told reporters.

Later, those who have made independent payments will receive refunds.
