JAKARTA - Ukrainian authorities said on Wednesday Russia attacked a number of cities in the country with hundreds and a missile attack, which hit energy infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia launched 400 drones and one ballistic missile, primarily targeting Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, and badminton, three cities in various regions of Ukraine.
The large-scale long-range attack targets energy infrastructure, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on X.
Meanwhile, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the air defense unit had been in action for a while in the capital, but there were no reports of casualties or damage there.
Power outages for 80,000 families in Kryvyi Rih and other locations in the Dnipropxisk area, Ukraine's largest private energy company, DTEK, said through the Telegram app.
In badminton and surrounding areas, eight people were injured, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Interior.
Separately, the head of military administration in Kryvyi Rih, Oleksandr Vilkul, said Russian forces carried out further attacks with a missile and 28 drones. He said water supplies were also disrupted in several areas.
Meanwhile in Kharkiv, who is often the target of Russian attacks, Regional Governor Syniehubov said at least 17 explosions were recorded in a 20-minute drone strike that resulted in three people being injured.
The Air Force said it had shot down most of the drones, but 12 targets were hit by 57 drones and missiles.
Russia is known to have stepped up attacks on cities across Ukraine this summer, regularly delivering hundreds of drones accompanied by ballistic missiles.

The attack was cited by United States President Donald Trump this week as the reason for his decision to approve more weapons for Ukraine, including air defenses.
"Russia has not changed its strategy, and to effectively counter this terror, we need a systematic strengthening of defense: more air defenses, more interceptors (drones), more determination to make Russia feel our response," President Zelensky wrote.
Moscow says civilian infrastructure such as the energy system is a legitimate target for helping Ukraine's war efforts. Kyiv himself also launched long-range attacks on targets in Russia, although on a more limited scale.
