The Issue Of Fake Certificates- Gibran's Impeachment Is Considered Not An Attack, Observer: The Bad Impact Of Jokowi's Political Manuver

JAKARTA - The statement of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo about his feeling that there was a big agenda behind the issue of fake diplomas and the impeachment of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka was considered not an attack. In fact, the issue arose due to Jokowi's poor political maneuvers.

Political observer and Executive Director of the Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) Dedi Kurnia Syah, said that accusations related to fake diplomas and Gibran's impeachment proposal were indeed a condition for a political aroma. Including efforts to damage Jokowi's reputation as a former president.

"The accusation of fake diplomas and the discourse on impeachment of Vice President Gibran do have a political nuance, it is impossible or not, including efforts to undermine Jokowi's reputation as a political figure in Indonesia," said Dedi to VOI, Wednesday, July 16.

However, continued Dedi, it does not mean that there is a big agenda behind the emergence of the issue of fake diplomas and Gibran's impeachment. Even to benefit certain parties who may be Jokowi's political 'enemy'.

Because according to him, it was Jokowi himself who opened up the opportunities for the two issues to emerge. The reason is that until today, Jokowi cannot prove the authenticity of his diploma to the public.

"However, the situation that happened has a reason. Jokowi did open up opportunities for being accused of having a fake diploma because there was no evidence of authenticity. Even though Jokowi used the same diploma when he registered at the Surakarta, Jakarta and National KPU," said Dedi.

"This means that Jokowi also has no evidence of the authenticity of the Diplomas," he continued.

Because Jokowi could not prove that his diploma was genuine, finally there was various speculations that resulted in Gibran's election as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. The public was again reminded of the controversy over the decision of the Constitutional Court.

"Then, regarding the impeachment of Vice President Gibran, this also has a reason, where the statement is driving the discourse related to Gibran's political process towards the Vice President, meaning that Jokowi has a number of reasons to be urged on these two things," said Dedi.

Therefore, Dedi considered that the attacks alleged by Jokowi on the two issues were not to downgrade the former president, but to the result of his own actions.

"This condition is not in reducing Jokowi's strategy but due to Jokowi's poor political maneuvers," said Dedi.

Dedi also considered that the attacks on Jokowi's reputation would not have an impact on President Prabowo Subianto's government. Even though Jokowi is considered to still have a big influence.

"I don't think so. Opinions that can influence partiality are usually opinions related to political decisions, not about accusations or individual feelings, even though individuals are big figures," concluded Dedi Kurnia Syah.

Previously, Jokowi admitted that he smelled the "big political agenda" behind the series of issues that hit him after he no longer served as president. According to him, the issue of fake diplomas and the discourse on impeaching Vice President Gibran was part of a systematic effort to damage his political reputation.

"This is my political feeling, there is a big political agenda to reduce my political reputation, to downgrade," Jokowi said in an interview with reporters in Solo, Monday, July 14.

Nevertheless, Jokowi emphasized that he was not influenced and considered these accusations as normal.
