Attacks On Palestinians Rise In The West Bank

JAKARTA - There has been an increase in killings and attacks on Palestinians by settlers and security forces in the occupied West Bank in recent weeks.

"Israeli settlers and security forces have intensified their killings, attacks and abuse of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in recent weeks," Thameen Al-Kheetan, spokesman for the United Nations High Commissioners' Office for Human Rights (OCHCR), told reporters in Geneva. as reported by Reuters, Tuesday, July 15.

About 30,000 Palestinians have forcibly evacuated in the northern region of the occupied West Bank since the Israeli military launched an operation of the "Besi Block".

This was confirmed by OCHCR to contribute to the ongoing consolidation of West Bank annexation, which violates international law.

In June, the United Nations recorded the highest monthly number of Palestinians injured in more than two decades in the West Bank.

Since January, there have been 757 settlers' attacks on Palestinians or their property, which is an increase of 13% over the same period last year, OHCHR said.

It is reported that 964 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, 2023, by Israeli troops and settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

In addition, 53 Israelis were reported killed in the West Bank and in Israel in attacks reported by Palestinians or in armed clashes.
