China's First LEGOLAND Present In Shangai, Offers More Than 75 Wahana

JAKARTA - China's first LEGOLAND opened in Shanghai on Saturday, featuring eight character-themed areas such as the King of Ape from the classic Chinese novel "Journey to the West" as well as a replica of the local city landscape made of Lego beams.

This 318,000 square meter playground on the outskirts of Shanghai is the 11th in the world. Visitors can enjoy more than 75 interactive rides, shows, and attractions in addition to thousands of models made with more than 85 million Lego beams.

The Lego model includes panda and Bund, the iconic sea pedestrian area of Shanghai. The resort also has a hotel with 250 Lego-themed rooms.

Tickets on the opening day sold out, with adult prices ranging from 319 yuan to 599 yuan.

CEOani Entertainments, CEO of resort LEGOLAND around the world, Marijuana Eastwood, was quoted by the official Xinhua News Agency as saying Shanghai facility combines the theme park experience "with rich Chinese cultural elements, creating destinations that are known globally and locally echoing," as reported by Kyodo News July 5.

One of the Chinese citizens (Shi Shuyi (32) was willing to travel two hours from Changzhou in Jiangsu Province to reach the LEGOLAND Shanghai Resort during the opening trial at the end of June, riding the same attraction three times with his 4-year-old son.

"I also want to go to LEGOLAND in Nagoya (Japan)," said Shi.

It is known, before Shanghai, LEGOLAND first appeared from England, Denmark, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

In the Bamboo Curtain country, two other LEGOLAND resorts are under construction. One in Shenzhen, southern Guangdong Province and the other near Chengdu, the capital of southwest Sichuan Province.
