JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung made a working visit to the Thousand Islands today. Arriving at Kelapa Island, North Thousand Islands District, Pramono received complaints from residents about the difficulty of getting clean water to take a shower.
"When I asked the residents what the main problem was, from various residents who said, the first was water for bathing," said Pramono on Kelapa Island, Friday, July 4.
Pramono revealed that the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) facility built by Perumda PAM Jaya several years ago, currently cannot operate. The drainage of seawater into clean water is damaged and has not been repaired.
"So if the water for this bath must come from seawater, then there must be a process and so on. Now, the process is currently being damaged and the replacement equipment has not been repaired," said Pramono.
Therefore, Pramono immediately ordered the Thousand Islands Regent to immediately coordinate with related parties to improve SWRO so that the need for clean water for bathing for local residents was met again.
"Actually it's simple. But if it's not handled, there won't be progress. Usually, if the governor comes and this becomes a governor concern, it will definitely be handled. So I ask for this to be handled," said Pramono.

On the one hand, Pramono ensured that the drinking water needs of residents on Kelapa Island did not experience any problems. The Brackesh Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) facility that distills brackish water into drinking water is still available to the public.
"If there is no problem with water for drinking because it has been prepared properly, both by water resources and by PAM Jaya," he said.
Met separately, Agus, a resident of Kelapa Island, admitted that he had had difficulty getting clean water to take a bath for more than a month. In fact, he was forced to use cloudy well water to take a bath.
"We were forced to take a bath using dirty water. We built a well, it was dirty water. So we were forced to take a shower. So there were a lot of queues, so they made a rinse water. Even though they should have made a drink," complained Agus.
