JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta held cross-sector coordination meetings to formulate steps to deal with brawl problems and congestion. Some of the policies studied were the involvement of criminologists and psychologists, a large campaign with the tagline Jaga Jakarta, to the establishment of the Anti-Worry Task Force.

The coordination meeting attended by the Special Staff and Expert Staff of the Governor, Regional Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and Head of the relevant BUMD offices and directors took place at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, June 26.

"The brawl in Jakarta seems to be a hereditary problem with various causes. Therefore, the presence of the Jakarta Provincial Government to deal with this problem is highly anticipated by the public," said the Special Staff Coordinator of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Firdaus Ali, quoted on Friday, June 27.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will explore cooperation with psychologists and criminologists from various universities around Jakarta to formulate more comprehensive solutions.

Regarding the big campaign titled #JagaJakarta, it can be one of the approaches. This is done by encouraging patrol intensification by Forkopimda and the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based CCTV technology.

In the forum, the Governor's Special Staff for Human Resources Development, Wisnu Permadi proposed to form a Task Force for Control of Brawl as the frontline for handling conflicts.

"The control task force must be formed immediately, and field operations must still be carried out massively," said Wisnu.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Coordinator of Special Staff for the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Yustinus Prastowo, emphasized the need for firm action to stop brawls. Thus, it will provide a deterrent effect to the parties involved.

"There needs to be a strong enforcement. A broken windows' theory, where small violations are immediately prosecuted, can also be applied in this context," said Prastowo.

In addition to the issue of brawls, the meeting also discussed the problem of congestion, one of which was the construction project. According to Prastowo, this greatly disrupts the flow of traffic.

Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to impose strict sanctions on contractors who do not comply with safety standards and traffic management in accordance with planning documents.

Various strategic projects such as MRT, LRT, JSDP, PAM Jaya, and Harbor Road Toll are said to be the main causes of congestion on a number of major roads in Jakarta.

"We must be more sensitive and responsive. The community needs the presence of officers in the field, especially from the Transportation Service, to regulate traffic at project points," said Prastowo.
