DPR-Government Immediately Discusses RAPBN 2026 Anticipating The Impact Of Iran-Israeli War

JAKARTA - DPR Speaker Puan Maharani stated that the DPR and the government will soon sit down together to discuss the 2026 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Draft (RAPBN), as a first step in anticipating the impact of the heated war between Iran and Israel.

According to him, the government must immediately mitigate developments in the global situation related to the rupiah exchange rate, fuel subsidies and other economic impacts.

"Including the plan to close the Strait of Hormuz, Iran, the impact will definitely be on the economy. So, the government must mitigate related to planning, exchange rates, then fuel subsidies and so on," said Puan, Tuesday, June 24.

Puan also asked the government to invite countries that are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN) to appeal to Iran and Israel to carry out a ceasefire as the two countries' conflicts escalated after the United States attack.

Puan said Indonesia must take on the role of a country that takes an active free political position for the safety of civil society, especially women and children in these countries.

"Regarding the current situation, of course, we urge for a ceasefire between the two parties who are at war. So that they can immediately resolve the situation peacefully," said Puan.

"Because it will cause the most victims to be civil society, especially women and children," he continued.

Puan assessed that other countries must also refrain from interfering and clouding the atmosphere so that the Middle East conflict does not prolong. Because it will have a direct impact on regional stability which triggers global market anxiety and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis.

"What will happen if it continues to be prolonged. Of course, it is better for both parties to exercise restraint. Likewise, other countries to urge that the problems that occur between the two countries can be resolved properly and not to make the atmosphere even more worse," said Puan.

"The point is that we are free to be active in politics. Later, let the government convey what the government's active free attitude is, but don't harm Indonesia's politics and geographical situation," he continued.

Puan also appreciated the swift steps taken by the Indonesian government to repatriate Indonesian citizens in Iran. He hopes that the evacuation of Indonesian citizens will run safely and smoothly in the country.

"The return of Indonesian citizens has been carried out, the government is very proactive, to immediately repatriate and evacuate the people who are there. And starting today, there have been citizens who have been sent home, have been on the plane and will gradually be repatriated to Indonesia," concluded Puan.
