Three Corruption Suspects Rehabilitation Of Poor Houses In Aceh Arrested

The public prosecutor of the South Aceh District Attorney's Office (Kejari) has detained three suspects for alleged corruption in funds for the rehabilitation of a poor house managed by Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency for the 2022 fiscal year with a value of IDR 1.74 billion.

Head of the Intelligence Section of the South Aceh District Attorney's Office, M Alfryandi Hakim, said the three suspects were detained for prosecution at the trial in court later.

"The three suspects were detained at the Class IIB Tapaktuan Detention Center. Before being entrusted to the detention center, the three suspects underwent a medical examination and were declared healthy by the health team," said M Alfryandi as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 17.

The third is with the initials Si as the Head of Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency in 2022, then AJ as the Head of the Baitulmal Secretariat of South Aceh Regency from 2019 to 2023, and F as a professional worker at Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency.

"The suspects are suspected of committing irregularities and misuse of Baitulmal funds in South Aceh Regency for housing rehabilitation assistance for the poor for the 2022 fiscal year with a value of Rp. 1.74 billion," he said.

The suspects are suspected of violating Article 2 and Article 3 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended into Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

M Alfryandi Hakim said the budget for the rehabilitation of poor people's homes of Rp. 1.74 billion came from zakat, infaq, and community alms collected through Baitul Mal, South Aceh Regency.

The rehabilitation of the poor house was carried out by Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency by transferring funds to the beneficiary's account, then the transferred funds were withdrawn.

Furthermore, the Destaanulmal bought building materials, where there were allegations of manipulation of the amount of material needed and price inflation, said M Alfryandi Hakim.

"Based on the findings, the implementer of the activity is suspected of using the money for the rehabilitation of uninhabitable houses that have been withdrawn from the beneficiaries for inappropriate purposes," said M Alfryandi Hakim.
