JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that private jets suspected of originating from the corruption money of the Operational Supporting Fund and the Program for the Improvement of Official Services for Regional Heads and Deputy Heads of Papua were used for personal purposes.
This was conveyed by the KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo, who initially said that the purchase of the plane was made in cash. The suspect in this case is suspected of carrying tens of billions of money in dozens of suitcases.
"The suspect brought cash for the private purchase of the jet using an airplane. The information we received was 19 suitcases to carry cash for the private purchase of the jet," Budi said as quoted on Tuesday, June 17.
Budi did not specify when or where the plane was purchased. However, DE as the Treasurer of the Expenditure of the Regional Head of Papua Province has been named a suspect.
He only said the use of the aircraft was not related to the needs of the people in Papua. "Among other things, for the personal needs of the related parties," he said.
In the future, Budi ensured that investigators would trace other assets that were allegedly purchased using operational funds. This is because this fraudulent practice cost the state up to IDR 1.2 trillion.
"KPK is also still investigating whether the private purchase of this jet is still other purchases, yes, whether aircraft or assets in other forms," he said.

"We are exploring and of course will track and trace because of course it is needed to prove the case as well as the first step in asset recovery later. Given the alleged state loss in this case is quite large, reaching Rp 1.2 trillion," continued Budi.
Previously reported, the KPK investigated allegations of corruption in the abuse of authority related to the Operational Supporting Fund and Program for the Improvement of Official Services for Regional Heads and Deputy Regional Heads of the Papua Provincial Government. This case was originally the development of corruption carried out by Lukas Enembe while serving as Governor of Papua.
Meanwhile, Lukas Enembe has died at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta in December 2023. At that time, he was still a defendant in a bribery and gratification case and the KPK was investigating the crime of money laundering (TPPU) that ensnared him.
