JAKARTA - The Banten Police are investigating the alleged involvement of the hotel in the criminal case of trafficking in persons (TPPO) that occurred in Cilegon City, Banten.

"The hotel allegedly provides rooms to accommodate victims and facilitates the practice of sexual exploitation of women, including one minor," said Director of Criminal Investigation at the Banten Police, Kombes Pol. From the victim's statement, the perpetrators promised fixed income and basic necessities facilities. "The victims are paid every month Rp. 9,000,000, the daily food money is Rp. 100,000, and the victim's skincare money every month is between Rp. 200,000 to Rp. 300,000," said Dian.

However, behind the compensation, the victim must serve between 9 and 11 guests every day.

The police secured a number of pieces of evidence, including two hotel rooms, seven cell phones belonging to the perpetrator, 23 contraceptives, one hotel guest book, and four hotel bills.

"For their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 2 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons and/or Article 88 in conjunction with Article 76I of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection," explained Dian.

The Banten Police stated that they would continue to explore the involvement of the hotel and would not hesitate to take legal action if it was proven to have facilitated the practice of TIP.
