JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will prepare technical confiscation of private jets that are suspected of being purchased using money from the corruption of the Operational Supporting Fund and the Program to Improve Regional Head Service and Deputy Regional Heads of Papua Province.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto, when asked about the steps to be taken when confiscating the plane. Initially, he explained that current investigators continued to monitor the assets that were said to be abroad.

"We are also tracking that position. Later when it is traced, we will try (to follow up, red)," Setyo told reporters quoted on Saturday, June 14.

"Well, the problem will be whether it will be brought to Jakarta or ... That's technical, yes, it means technical," he continued.

There are several scenarios that Setyo said have been considered. One of them, by entrusting it to the country where the plane is.

"For example, there are state officials or government officials there, whether it's abroad or where, which can be cooperated and guarantee that the status quo has not changed, there will be no other concern, yes, of course we can entrust it," said the former Director of KPK Investigation.

However, Setyo said the opportunity to take the plane to the country was also open. "Of course, it's also considered, yes, what position is like this and so on, yes, to ensure safety," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK investigated allegations of corruption in the abuse of authority related to the Operational Supporting Fund and Program for the Improvement of Official Services for Regional Heads and Deputy Regional Heads of the Papua Provincial Government. The state's losses due to this reckless practice reached Rp1.2 trillion.

There is already one suspect in this case, namely DE as Treasurer of the Expenditure of the Regional Head of Papua Province. He is suspected of committing his actions together with Lukas Enembe while still serving as Governor of Papua.

Meanwhile, Lukas Enembe has died at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Jakarta in December 2023. At that time, he was still a defendant in a bribery and gratification case and the KPK was investigating the crime of money laundering (TPPU) that ensnared him.
