Facebook Group 'Gay Tuban Lamongan Bojonegoro' Viral, Police Intervene

Lamongan - Lamongan Resort Police (Polres) is investigating a Facebook group called 'Gay Tuban Lamongan Bojonegoro' which has recently become a public spotlight and sparked widespread discussions on social media.

Lamongan Police Chief AKBP Agus Dwi Suryanto confirmed that his party had received the report and was conducting an investigation into the group.

"We are following up and conducting an investigation. We cannot convey the results yet," Agus said when confirmed, Antara, Tuesday, June 3.

The closed group is known to have more than 10 thousand members. To join, prospective members must get approval from the admin. This group is said to have been active for approximately three years.

The viral group on social media is considered to be due to the ease of sharing content on digital platforms, so that the spread of information can occur quickly and widely.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasatreskrim) of the Lamongan Police, AKP Rizky Akbar Kurniadi, said the investigation was still ongoing and could not be disclosed to the public regarding the details.

"If the public has information regarding this matter, please convey it to us. We are open to receiving information," said Rizky.

From the results of the initial search, this group contains content in the form of invitations and communication between members who use anonymous identities. Members take advantage of the private and anonymous features provided by Facebook to interact.

Initial information regarding the existence of the group first appeared in an Instagram post criticizing the use of the anonymous feature in the group.

The police stated that they would continue to monitor and explore the group's activities, including potential violations of the law, while waiting for the results of further investigations.
