JAYAPURA - PT PLN (Persero) Regional Main Units (UIW) Papua and West Papua have succeeded in distributing electricity to two schools located in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas through SuperSUN innovation.
General Manager of PLN UIW Papua and West Papua, Diksi Erfani Umar said the two schools were SD YPPK Teri in Merauke Regency, South Papua, and SD Inpres Abusa in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains.
"Previously, the condition of electricity in these two schools was very limited," said Diksi in Jayapura, Antara, Sunday, June 1.
According to Diksi, SD YPPK Teri has been relying on simple assembled solar power made by residents to support learning activities. Meanwhile, SD Inpres Abusa has never been touched by electricity at all.
The superSUN installed in the two schools consists of a solar power generation system with a power specification of 900 VA, two solar panels with a capacity of 350 WP each, an inverter of 1,000 watts, and a battery with a capacity of 2 kWh.
"This component combination ensures a stable and sustainable electricity supply, not only for teaching and learning activities, but also for the surrounding community at night," said Diksi.
PLN said SuperSUN is a solar power-based individual generator and battery storage. This technology is designed as an independent and environmentally friendly electric solution for areas that have not been reached by conventional electricity networks.
"With electricity, we hope that the teaching and learning process can run more optimally and the quality of education will increase," he said.
