JAKARTA - Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Minister (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding released 293 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who will work in South Korea through the Government to Government (G to G) scheme, Monday, May 19.
The release event took place at the Center for Vocational Education Quality Development Development (BBPPMPV) in Depok, West Java.
In his remarks, Minister Karding advised workers not only to focus on earning income, but also to be wise in managing finances.
What is more important than that is to manage finances wisely. Know which one is used to live everyday life, know which one is sent to the family, to parents, to the wife and know where the rest is invested, "said Karding.
According to him, some of the salaries obtained by PMI should not only be saved, but also invested. He said the investment could be in the form of gold, houses, or other forms that are safe and profitable.
"Anggaplah yang paling mudah dan pasti manfaat itu beli emas," ujarnya.
Minister Karding also highlighted the importance of financial planning for the future. He gave an example of several PMI retired people who are now successful entrepreneurs in the country because they are able to manage their income while working abroad.
Many people went to Korea and succeeded. Last Saturday I went to Cirebon, met PMI's retired friends. His business is not cans, his turnover is at least IDR 90 million per month," he said.
He also mentioned the name Bambang, a former PMI from Yogyakarta, who now owns a restaurant with a turnover of IDR 500 million per month.
"If Mas Bambang, who owns a Jempol restaurant in Yogya, the turnover is already Rp. 500 million," said Karding.
